Yorkshire Day – A reyt good day had by all
On the 1st August, celebrations were held across the county. The day was a huge success with lots of fun, pride and patriotism shown towards the county. Northside Truck & Vans embodied what Yorkshire day is all about. Our team traveled around a variety of locations, with a van wrapped in reasons why we all love Yorkshire! Along with Radio Aire, who joined in the fun, a range of locally themed goodies were given to the public, including Fox’s biscuits, Haribo, Yorkshire tea and beautiful themed postcards.
Stage 1: Knottingley Mine & Rescue Service
To start the day, Northside traveled out to Knottingley Mine & Rescue Service to celebrate their pride in the working history of Yorkshire. On arrival, the team were offered a warm welcome by the great staff members of the service, who provided a great insight to the excellent lifesaving training provided onsite. A tour around the excellent facilities was only bettered by the back and forth between the teams on some of Yorkshire’s finest rivalries, After the tour some brilliant Yorkshire products were given to all in the facility and goodbyes were shared as the team went back on the road to continue the celebrations of this historic day!
Stage 2: Lotherton Hall
Next, the team visited the beautiful Lotherton Hall, set in the heart of the countryside. They spread some Yorkshire cheer among family and friends, who enjoyed a great day walking around the grounds of this majestic manor. The few hours spent at the hall were enjoyed by all, as the team spoke to a huge number of people who expressed a love for Yorkshire, nearly as much as Northside! As flat caps glistened in the sun it was once again time to move on and Yorkshire’s most patriotic van hit the road again.
Stage 3: Temple Newsam
The very grand Temple Newsam was the next destination, setting up a day of fun in the amphitheatre. This attracted visitors and even interrogations as to why Northside love Yorkshire! With the summer holidays now in full swing, Temple Newsam was packed with fun loving families, who loved the idea of Yorkshire Day and enjoyed the great treats the team provided for them on the day.
Stage 4: RHS Harlow Carr
The final location was began with a delightful drive up to Harrogate and the 57 acres of beautiful garden provided at RHS Harlow Carr. They were met by the great team at the garden and Northside began providing fun and excitement to the wonderful public, who were enjoying these peaceful gardens. The day was ending, but it did not stop more of Yorkshire’s fantastic public coming to see the van and take some of the products prided in the county. After a cup of Yorkshire tea was shared and all the goodies gone, the team packed up the van for one last time and headed home.
If anyone couldn’t make it down to the great day of fun in the specific locations, it may not have stopped them seeing the fun the Northside team had! With the van covered in Yorkshire’s finest people, places, foods and sayings the team traveled to a variety of other locations such as; The Jungle, Xscape, Elland Road and the centre of Yorkshire to name a few, meaning everyone had the chance to join in on Yorkshire Day.
Event host, Chris Taylor of twentysix digital said: “As a proud Yorkshire man I was excited to be involved in Yorkshire Day, giving out some of Yorkshire’s favourite products across this great county was an honour and would like to thank everyone that came to see us and enjoyed the day”
