Beer

John describes the effects of beer and how it shows us what we are.

Beer takes us many ways,
It does the strangest things,
It makes some fellows wish to praise,
While others wish to sing.
To some it gets their spirits fired,
They have the wish to fight,
To others it simply makes them tired,
They can’t last out the night.
Some cannot find their way home,
Or even find their feet,
But others will the pantry comb,
For beer it makes them eat.
So beer shows us what we are,
Be it kindly or contrary,
But the best example it gives by far,
It shows how men do vary.
