Our Friend

John describes the important friendship and love that comes from a dog.

His eyes are filled with adoration,
He has no inhibitions,
There is no more love in all creation,
And he has no grand ambitions,
He has no need for clothes so fine,
He has but simple pleasures,
His welcome can be just divine,
He is one of this life’s treasures,
Who else can we scorn and scold,
Will remain so fond and true,
Loves us in spite of what he is told,
And be so loyal too.
We can have no better greeting,
His very being is agog,
This is, of course, a daily meeting,
With a friend for life-our dog.
