On This Day in Yorkshire 11th September 2015 – David Cameron caught on his mic slagging off Yorkshire people

David Cameron scored a huge own goal on this day in Yorkshire in 2015. Just before the then Prime Minister was about to make a speech about Yorkshire devolution in Leeds, he was overheard on a microphone saying to an unknown person these immortal words…

“We just thought people in Yorkshire hated everyone else, we didn’t realise they hated each other so much.”

Oh dear .. no wonder we didn’t agree with you on other important matters is it Mr C!

Afterwards he tried to brush it off by saying that it was joke and that he’d repeat it to other Yorkshiremen, including Geoffrey Boycott and Dickie Bird. I think they’d probably both like to banish him to Lancashire..
