The Magpie Cafe was originally built in 1750, as a Merchants House. It has always been associated with fishing and shipping, however it was not until 1939 when the building officially turned into a cafe.  It is located directly next to Whitby fish market. Every morning the fresh produce is collected from just across the road! People will queue out of the doors to get their hands on a portion of the mouth watering fish & chips. To this day The Magpie is considered one of the best in the business to many Yorkshire folk. We recommend paying a visit, but if you want to eat in then you may need to book in advance!
